Aylsham’s history

Aylsham is a village in the Rural Municipality of Nipawin No. 487, about 65 kilometres northeast of Melfort. Its post office opened in 1921, and the name was taken from Aylsham, Norfolk, England, which the community then adopted as its own.

Aylsham incorporated as a village on 4 August 1947. Among the people connected to the village are former NHL hockey player Greg Classen and Karlene Faith, a Canadian writer, feminist, scholar and human rights activist.
